There are several bars in the town of Killingworth, near Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the north east of England for those who like to while away an evening with a beer and some local company. The Station is perhaps the most popular of these as they also offer food as well as refreshments and occasionally there are live music acts on weekend nights too. There is also a pool table, darts and flat screen televisions transmitting live sporting events for your entertainment also. If however, you are looking for something more substantial or prefer more lively pursuits, there are a few other options in nearby areas that may be more to your liking.
These include The XS 10 Pin Bowling on Whitley Road in Longbenton which is only a few miles away form Killingworth which promises a fun night out for children and adults of all ages and this is perfect for a family outing or a big night out with friends. This is a Namco Funscape venue so there are various options of ten pin bowling here for you to choose from, with state of the art technological bowling lanes or a faster-paced game with shorter lanes, all from just £2.50 per game. There are also concessions for those over the age of 50 and early bird special prices which are applicable for play before 12 noon daily during school holiday periods and weekends only during term time. You can also purchase a special family pass which will get you two games of bowling for you and three others for just £21 but one member of your party needs to be under the age of 16 and this offer is not available on bank holidays. A late night deal is available for parties playing after 9pm which gives you three games and also includes a drink at the bar, albeit selected drinks only, and this offer is on every day although again bank holiday dates are excluded from the deal. This venue is open from 12pm daily – and from 10am weekends and during school holiday periods – until late, and additional facilities include a licensed bar and cafe for food and refreshments, video games, pool tables and flat screen TV’s showing all your favourite sporting events. This site is fully wheelchair accessible for the disabled and has baby changing facilities too.
For a more adult evening out, the Newcastle Racecourse offers a great afternoon or evening out and is just a short drive from Killingworth at Gosforth Park near Newcastle upon Tyne. It is owned by Northern Racing and holds both flat and National Hunt racing events throughout the calendar year although the biggest meeting of the year is the Northumberland Plate which is held every year in the month of June. This unique leisure venue also plays host to a variety of other entertainment events ands is a popular venue private parties, corporate hospitality, business conferences and weddings too. There are also plans to extend the site it to include a new hotel, golfing and caravanning facilities, next to the racecourse and £25 million is currently being invested into the venue for this purpose.
